Our first ever Los Angeles Lab Intensive took place from October 2nd through 4th in the City of Angels. Writers, Mentors, and the TWL Team gathered in West Hollywood for three days focused solely on their projects, community building, and career strategizing.

In 2026, The Writers Lab expanded our reach to become a bicoastal enterprise. Our team crossed the country to touch down in Los Angeles, the beating heart of the film and television industry. Our first ever Los Angeles cohort were hosted in West Hollywood at the lovely Palihouse Hotel. They met with their mentors for one-on-one meetings at WIF LA, workshopped with Roadmap Writers, and spent a day learning from industry panels at AFI.
The in-person intensive balances workshops and discussion, along with individual script work and group sessions. We focus on building craft, community, and career skills with this cohort, which includes feature and pilot writers bringing a diverse array of genres, profiles, creative voices and lived experiences. The on-site mentors—writers, directors and producers—offer generous and candid unscripted interaction, as well as hours of deep craft and career exploration. Virtual discussions with additional speakers and guests further enrich the retreat.
The writers left with detailed plans for revisions and tools to advocate for themselves and their work. The cohort will continue to work together and support each other, with advocacy and guidance from The Writers Lab team, the mentors, and the alumnae community.
