The Writers Lab returns to New York for the twelfth year of our Lab Intensive, from November 13th through 15th. Writers, Mentors, and the TWL Team will join together in the mecca of independent cinema for three days focused solely on writing, collective growth, and advancing in the industry.
New York City
In 2026, The Writers Lab expanded our reach to become a bicoastal enterprise. Our second New York City-based Intensive will take off in November, hosted at the NH Collection. Writers will meet one-on-one with their mentors at the offices of longtime TWL partners The Writers Guild of America East, and spend a day learning from industry panels at The Lincoln Center.
The in-person intensive balances workshops and discussion, along with individual script work and group sessions. We focus on building craft, community, and career skills with this cohort, which includes feature and pilot writers bringing a diverse array of genres, profiles, creative voices and lived experiences. The on-site mentors—writers, directors and producers—offer generous and candid unscripted interaction, as well as hours of deep craft and career exploration. Virtual discussions with additional speakers and guests further enrich the retreat.
The writers left with detailed plans for revisions and tools to advocate for themselves and their work. The cohort will continue to work together and support each other, with advocacy and guidance from The Writers Lab team, the mentors, and the alumnae community.
