The Writers Lab, the only programme devoted exclusively to script development for women and nonbinary screenwriters over 40, has aligned again with Women in Film and TV Ireland and Julia Berg of Untamed Stories to run a programme for writers based in Austria, England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. (For residency requirements, please see the FAQ. ) 

Building on the success of our previous UK & Europe Labs, the 2025 edition began September 2025 with an in-person Intensive in London, and is running until December 2025 with sessions focused on development and industry connections. The Writers Lab is excited to create a far-reaching and culturally inclusive community of unique voices reflecting the diversity of the populations across the the UK and Europe.

Women in Film and TV Ireland have led the Irish expansion of the lab since its inception in 2021, resulting in 2 paid writing placement opportunities for Irish screenwriters with leading producers in the 2025 edition.

The Writers Lab UK and Europe 2025 is currently supported by Ffilm Cymru Wales, Screen Scotland, Northern Ireland Screen, The Austrian Film Institute, ORF, FISAplus – Film Industry Support Austria and Drehbuchforum Wien (Screenwriters Forum Vienna).
